Importance of SHA
SHA tracks over a hundred health indicators, and collectively, the data provides a robust evidence of the health status of Arkansans. SHA provides the scientific foundation for the State Health Improvement Plan (SHIP), and the Agency’s Strategic Plan (SP). These data help to identify the most important public health issues that are being addressed to achieve optimal health and well-being for all people in Arkansas.
National Standard & Measures
SHA is also a core requirement of the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) that allows ADH to maintain its accredited status. By achieving and maintaining an accredited status, ADH has shown its capabilities in carrying out the ten essential public health services by following PHAB national Standards & Measures.
SHA Data Platform
SHA data is presented in a Scorecard format, developed in collaboration with Clear Impact Inc. The Scorecard presents historical and current data that allows trends over time to be observed and analyzed. The digital medium also allows ADH to routinely update the data.
Data Chapters & Indicators
SHA includes a wide variety of sources for collecting data on health outcomes and health behaviors (risk and protective factors). A total of # chapters consist of over 100 health indicators. The indicators include data on issues such as leading causes of death, infant mortality, maternal mortality, obesity, tobacco use, and many other health factors. The scorecard can display historical data illustrating how health issues have evolved over time and what the current trends are, in graphics and tabular formats.
