ASBN – Director Letter

Sue Tedford

Welcome to the Arkansas State Board of Nursing website.  I hope you find our site to be a source of valuable information, as it is available to assist the public and licensed nurses to more fully utilize the services of the Board of Nursing.

Issuing licenses and certificates of prescriptive authority, prescribing minimum standards and surveying nursing education programs, and acting on complaints and conducting disciplinary proceedings are just a few of the services provided by the ASBN.

Remember, our mission at the ASBN is to protect the public and act as their advocate by effectively regulating the practice of nursing.  In addition to the Nurse Practice Act and Rules, there are position statements and guidelines for nurses to follow.  The ASBN is responsible for enforcing these laws and rules pertaining to the regulation of nurses, nursing education and nursing practice.  Please visit this site frequently to stay current with the Nurse Practice Act and Rules.

Whether you are a student, licensed nurse, or a citizen, we want your interaction with us to be the best it possibly can be.  Please give us your suggestions and feedback.

Cordially,

Sue A. Tedford, MNSc, APRN
ASBN Executive Director

Measles Update: Get The Latest Measles Information Here

Measles, or rubeola, is a highly contagious, acute viral infectious disease caused by the measles virus. Some people think of measles as just a rash and fever that clears up in a few days; however, measles can cause serious health complications, especially in children younger than 5-years-old.

The best protection against measles is the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine. The MMR vaccine provides long-lasting protection against all strains of measles.
