Welcome to Arkansas State Board of Nursing (ASBN). The information contained herein is designed to assist you with information you need to begin the application process. Read the instructions and provide all required documentation. ALL FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.
The National Council Licensure Exam (NCLEX®) is a computer adaptive exam designed to test the knowledge, skills and abilities of the entry-level practitioner. Passage of the exam is a part of the process used by Boards of Nursing when determining eligibility for licensure as a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse.
THE FIRST STEP in application submission is to create an account in the Arkansas Nurse Portal.

Once you have created your Nurse Portal account, sign in to your Nurse Portal account to submit an application.
Once you have submitted an application, you may monitor the status of your application by accessing your Nurse Portal account and clicking on view status.

Disclaimer: The ASBN may deny licensure to candidates who have had a license revoked, suspended, or placed on probation and may not be reinstated in other jurisdictions. The ASBN may also deny licensure to candidates who have been convicted of a crime.

RN Initial by Exam Application Information
Initial licensure by examination application based on the NCLEX-RN, for first-time applicants educated in the United States.
RN/LPN Rewrite Application Information
Initial licensure by examination application for applicants that have previously failed the NCLEX-PN or NCLEX-RN.
LPN Equivalency Initial by Exam Application Information
LPN Equivalency examination application is for applicants that have failed the NCLEX-RN and want to test for LPN licensure.
RN Internationally Educated Application Information
Initial licensure by examination application, based on the NCLEX-RN, for applicants educated outside the United States, its’ territories, or Canada
