Animal Control Officers

Collaborative Efforts

The Arkansas Department of Health works closely with animal control officers throughout the state on rabies control and animal bite investigations. ADH has established a voluntary certification of animal control officers based on training that is offered annually through the Arkansas State Animal Control Association (ASACA).

The mission of ASACA is, in part, to enhance the professionalism of animal control personnel through development of training programs as well as to develop standards and certification procedures for animal control personnel. Working together with ASACA, the ADH goal is to promote professionalism in the animal protection care and humane law enforcement field by providing education, training and support.
