Welcome to Arkansas State Board of Nursing (ASBN). The information contained herein is designed to assist you with information you need to begin the renewal application process. Read the instructions and provide all required documentation as applicable. ALL FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.
Important Notes Regarding Renewal
- The ASBN renews licenses on a staggered biennial birth date system. The first license that is issued may be valid from three (3) months to twenty-seven (27) months depending upon one’s birth date.
- Each license type must be renewed separately.
- Advanced practice nurses must have a valid, active RN license (in Arkansas or a compact multistate.) The RN license must be renewed before the APRN renewal link will be available.
- If using contact hours as the method of continuing education compliance, you are no longer required to list all courses individually; instead you will be required to affirm that you have completed the required continuing education for the renewal cycle – DO NOT UPLOAD your certificates unless you are notified that you have been selected for audit.
- The accepted payment method is with a Visa, MasterCard, or Discover credit card. Upon completion of the renewal application, you will be presented a receipt screen which should be printed as proof of payment.
- A late fee is assessed if the license is not renewed before the expiration date.
- Persons practicing nursing with an expired or lapsed license shall be considered an illegal practitioner and shall be subject to penalties for violation of the Nurse Practice Act.
- Be aware that if you fail to answer any question correctly or provide false or misleading information on your renewal application, a delay in the processing of your renewal may occur.
- You must use a desktop computer (no mobile devices) and Internet Explorer.
