Arkansas Health Department Extends Hours This Saturday to Support REAL ID Deadline

  • Arkansas Department of Health

LITTLE ROCK, AR—With the May 7 deadline to obtain a REAL ID quickly approaching, the
Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) is taking proactive steps to assist residents in meeting the
necessary requirements.

In response to increasing demand for birth certificates—an essential document for obtaining a
REAL ID—the ADH will open several Local Health Units (LHUs) and its main vital records office
this Saturday to help expedite the process for Arkansans.

Extended Saturday Hours:

On Saturday, April 26, the following ADH locations will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to issue
certified birth certificates:

ADH Main Office, Vital Records – 4815 West Markham, Little Rock

  • Pulaski Central LHU – 3915 W 8th Street, Little Rock
  • Washington County LHU – 3270 Wimberly Drive, Fayetteville
  • Craighead County LHU – 611 E Washington Avenue, Jonesboro
  • Miller County LHU – 503 Walnut, Texarkana
  • Drew County LHU – 940 Scogin Drive, Monticello

To obtain a birth certificate, individuals must bring a valid driver’s license and be prepared to pay
a $12 fee via cash, check, or credit card (the cardholder’s name must match the request).

These extended hours aim to ease the application process and ensure Arkansans have access to
the documents they need before the federal REAL ID deadline.

Measles Update: Get The Latest Measles Information Here

Measles, or rubeola, is a highly contagious, acute viral infectious disease caused by the measles virus. Some people think of measles as just a rash and fever that clears up in a few days; however, measles can cause serious health complications, especially in children younger than 5-years-old.

The best protection against measles is the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine. The MMR vaccine provides long-lasting protection against all strains of measles.
