Viral Hemorrhagic Fever & Ebola Virus Disease Testing

Viral Hemorrhagic Fevers (VHF) are a group of diseases caused by several families of viruses. Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) is a rare, often fatal VHF caused by infection with orthoebolaviruses (formerly ebolavirus). Special precautions must be taken given the severity of VHF and EVD. Blood and body fluid from patients suspected of having a VHF such as EVD must be considered as potentially infectious and all safety precautions taken when collecting, handling, or shipping.
