National Health Service Corps (NHSC) sites are healthcare facilities located in underserved areas that provide primary care services to populations with limited access to care. These sites must meet specific eligibility requirements set by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), including being located in a designated Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA). NHSC-approved sites can include federally qualified health centers, rural health clinics, Indian Health Service facilities, and other community-based clinics that offer comprehensive care regardless of a patient’s ability to pay. In return for service at these sites, clinicians may qualify for Nurse Corps and NHSC scholarship or loan repayment programs, which help recruit and retain health care providers in areas with the greatest need.
