Dialysis – Patient Care Technician (D-PCT) Registry
Act 198 of the 2025 Arkansas legislative session authorized the Arkansas State Board of Nursing to place Dialysis – Patient Care Technicians, who meet education and practice qualifications as defined by § 17-87-905, on a Registry. A Dialysis – Patient Care Technician (D-PCT), who is on the Registry, may provide direct patient care and hemodialysis, under the supervision of a registered nurse licensed in this state.
Dialysis – Patient Care Technician (D-PCT) Registry Application Information
Welcome to the Arkansas State Board of Nursing (ASBN). The following information is designed to assist you with preparing for the application process. Read the instructions carefully and provide all required documents. ALL FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.
THE FIRST STEP in application submission is to create an account in the Arkansas Nurse Portal.
After creating your Nurse Portal account, sign in to submit your application. You can check your application status anytime by logging in and selecting “View Status.”
Dialysis – Patient Care Technician Initial Registry Application (D-PCT)
Required for an individual that is currently employed as a Dialysis Patient Care Technician and is enrolled in a training course that follows national certification recommendations.
General Instructions: Read instructions and provide all required documentation.

- After completing all fields on a page click the “Save and Continue” button to proceed to the next page or click the “Save and Return to Home” button if you need to exit the application and return later.
- If you need to change information entered in an area, you are provided with an opportunity to edit information prior to submitting the application.
- No application is complete until submitted and all required documentation and fees are received.
- Completed applications are valid for one year from the date of submission.
- If you are required to submit any documents, upload them through your Arkansas Nurse Portal, in the Message Center.

- Verify that the charges are correct before submitting an application.

- You will receive a payment receipt by email which should be printed as proof of payment.
- Qualifications: To be placed on the Dialysis – Patient Care Technician (D-PCT) Registry in Arkansas, the following must be submitted to the Arkansas State Board of Nursing:
- Submission of a Dialysis – Patient Care Technician (D-PCT) Initial Registry application.
- A D-PCT Initial Verification Form, completed by the employer and verified by oath, that the applicant shows evidence of the following:
- Completion of high school or a general educational development (GED); and
- Current employment as a Dialysis Patient Care Technician; and
- Enrollment in a training course that follows national recommendations for dialysis patient care technicians.
- To remain on the Dialysis – Patient Care Technician (D-PCT) Registry, the individual shall obtain national certification within eighteen (18) months of becoming employed as a Dialysis Patient Care Technician and maintain current certification. Submission of the certification shall be sent to the Arkansas State Board of Nursing upon receipt and with each renewal cycle.

Dialysis – Patient Care Technician (D-PCT) Registry Renewals
- A D-PCT, that meets qualifications, may initially remain on the Registry for up to eighteen (18) months of becoming employed as a D-PCT. This allows training to be completed and national certification to be obtained.
- If proof of national certification is not submitted to the Arkansas State Board of Nursing (ASBN) within 18 months of employment, the D-PCT will expire and no longer be active on the Registry.
- In addition to national certification requirements, the ASBN renews D-PCTs to the Registry on a staggered biennial birth date system. The first D-PCT that is issued may be valid for three (3) months to twenty-seven (27) months depending upon one’s birth date.
- Sixty (60) days prior to the expiration date, the ASBN will mail a renewal notification to the last known address of the D-PCT who is current on the Registry.
- A D-PCT Registry Renewal application may be submitted through the nurse portal sixty (60) days prior to expiration date.
- The D-PCT must submit a renewal application and proof of national certification to be renewed, if employed more than eighteen (18) months.
- The accepted payment method is with a Visa, MasterCard, or Discover credit card. Upon completion of the renewal application, a receipt will be sent to the email address on file. Print a copy for proof of payment.
- The D-PCT is considered lapsed or late when the national certification, for which placement on the Registry was granted, expires.
- People practicing as a D-PCT, that are not active on the Registry, shall be subject to penalties for violating the Rules.
- Be aware that if the applicant falsifies answers, documents, or provides misleading information on the renewal application, a delay in processing the renewal may occur.
How to verify a Dialysis – Patient Care Technician (D-PCT) is on the Arkansas State Board of Nursing Registry
To work as a D-PCT, a person must be active on the Arkansas State Board of Nursing License Lookup system. Below is the step-by-step process for verifying a D-PCT is on the Registry:
- Go to the ASBN website Arkansas State Board of Nursing – Arkansas Department of Health
- Click on the tile that shows “Verify License or Certificate”
- Under Resources, click on the “License Lookup” link
- On the Arkansas State Board of Nursing License Verification Portal, enter the following information for the D-PCT you are verifying is active on the Registry:
- Last Name
- First Name
- License Type – D-PCT
- Click the security verification box that states “I’m not a robot”
- Click “Search”
- If the D-PCT is on the Registry, the Verification Search Results will show the individuals information.
- Click on “View Report” to see the following information:
- Status: Active, Expired, Inactive
- Original Issue Date
- Current Expiration Date
- Discipline: Yes or No
- Click on the dropdown that states “Primary Source Board of Nursing Messages & Notifications” – this information will include if the D-PCT has received National Certification and when it expires.
